Why We Should All Stop Watching Superhero Movies

Monday, June 30th, 2008

It might be common knowledge by now, but with data recovery hard drive flood of superhero movies in Hollywood during the past five years I can’t help but see it as Twiggy well constructed ploy by big time movie producers. It may have worked for some time, though after a dozen heroes resurrected onto the silver screen I’m just about ready donating a car throw up.

I was watching an episode of Entourage the other day. Vinny, the main character, was being considered for the role of Aquaman. Everyone wanted him his blog take it. For one, he would make a ton of money, and also it would help boost his career. I thought about the second reason and how it rings true in Hollywood today. Superhero movies are a just a catalyst for a certain actor’s or actresses’ career. Producers choose a promising actor (without any thoughts for casting or auditions), inject them into a superhero movie, promote them like crazy, and then hope that they are nominated for an Oscar by their next movie. Ben Affleck might have won an Oscar before he did Daredevil, but his name was still attached to Matt Damon then. While in Halle Berry’s case, doing Catwoman was just a terrible decision.

On the other hand, the producers aren’t the only ones to blame. The other thing that bothers me is that people still flock to the Boigpphdf whenever a superhero movie comes out. We can consider some of them as old fans of the comic books. However, comic book fans are usually disappointed with movie renditions anyway. Sure a superhero movie looks cool. Even I have to admit that the production value is way up there, with hundreds of extras and really well done effects and scenes. But we get to see that in the preview. I don’t have to watch the whole movie to see that nice chase scene between the Silver Surfer and the Human Torch.

My one advice, besides not watching any more superhero flicks, is to keep your children away from these kinds of movies. Not only will you save money from buying useless merchandise that your kid wants after watching the latest hero on screen (i.e. mediocre action figures and plastic lunch boxes), but it also helps filter their conventions for quality films. I could also argue that superhero movies are naturally violent, but I’ll leave that for the soccer moms to point out.

It’s annoying to think that Hollywood producers are simply making fun of us. It seems that they want us to fall into their trap of big budgeted marketing. They make us think that spending millions of dollars on a movie assures its quality. When all is said and done, they think of us (the audience) as fools who are all the more ready to eat up anything they put out as long as it looks cool.

Losing Yourself in the Middle of a Conversation

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

There’s asp net web hosting well-known saying that goes, “Wherever you go, there you are.” It’s a good saying except for one thing: It’s just not true!! (I’d like refinance loans apologize for the two exclamation points. Yes, they’re fun, but sometimes you can overuse fun things and all of a sudden they’re not fun anymore. I guess what I’m trying to say is, if I could go back in time, or if I knew how to use the backspace key on my computer, I would eliminate one of the exclamation points. orthoevra The reason the saying is false is that when our minds are deprived of stimulation they tend to wander. So, yes, you Mars Attacks have gone someplace, but you’re not really there at all. You’re somewhere else entirely, probably trying to remember the words to the Armour Hot Dogs song.

Now, the type of stimulation the brain needs is not something like being tickled with a feather. The mind is too mature to be amused by that (not so the insides of your knees, which are always up for being tickled). The mind craves interesting conversation. Which brings us back to the party and Ka-thy.

Kathy, it turns out, is a bore, which I’m guessing is why you forgot her name in the first place. She’s been talking at you for a long time about this and that and you’ve just drifted off: “… fat kids, skinny kids, even kids with chicken pox love hot dogs…” You’re kind of aware of her mouth moving, but you have no idea what she’s saying. Then you hear the words “inhaling mold spores” and, like that-you’re back. You have no idea what the subject of the conversation is, and Kathy has just stopped talk-mg. She’s staring at you (or slightly to the right of you because of her lazy eye), expecting you to say something. What do you do? What do you do?

Solution

Some people might tell you that you could fake Kathy out by nodding your head and saying, “Ummm. Uh, hmmm. Mmmmm. I see. Hmmm mmmm.” I am here to tell you that that’s not going to work unless she’s part of the one-tenth of one percent of the country who can be hypnotized by people humming.

The only proven way to get yourself out of this embarrassing situation is to say something about Gloria Estefan. I’m telling you, as long as you commit to it, she can fit into any conversation. You don’t believe me? Here’s proof. Kathy is still staring at you waiting for a response while you dutifully consider, then reject the honesty and “hmm, hmm” options. Finally you say, “That sounds a lot like Gloria Estefan.” Kathy looks at you funny and says, “What’s that got to do with copper plumbing?” To which you respond, “Well, Gloria Estefan is the copper plumbing of the music industry. She’s beautiful, reliable, and indestructible. Look how she came back after that bus accident! Are you going to debate me on donate your car And, presto, you’re back in the conversation and nobody’s the wiser.

Certainly the Truth - Lacking Many Quality Jokes

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Where Al Franken’s’s last book was Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them was funny, educational, and inspiring, his new endeavor, The Truth (with Jokes) is scary and a little depressing.

Don’t get me wrong– there are a few sections in the book that are really funny, but those parts seem to be scarce. One such hilarious Beta Blockers a Al Vermont Lemon Laws that one of his favorite people, Sean Hanity seems to completely ignore any attempts to thwart his lies. He goes on where to donate a car if they were truth regardless of the facts. Thus, Al takes a different approach to fighting them. Al debunks a list of Sean Hanity’s accusations of John Kerry being a “flip flopper”, and after each one makes up a lie about Sean Hanity, as Al see this as a better way to combat him. Now, the individual lies aren’t all that funny in and of themselves, but Al seem to have great execution in this section. Comics often talk about timing as being the most important aspect of doing comedy well. I used to mortgages for bad credit this rule only applied to the spoken word, but Al managed to keep me laughing through this entire chapter. Just as my laughter subsided, all would present another lie about Hanity that would start my laughter al over again.

But alas, most of the book wasn’t very funny. Certainly there were places that it was obvious that it was supposed to be funny, and many that invoked a grin, but nothing like what I have come to expect from Al Franken. Maybe his 3 hour a day radio show has drained his previously overstocked supply of really funny jokes.

Also, the book seems to be lacking any inspirational call to action. There is a lot of time spent on how much home loan refinance rate and Company screw up, and how their policies are driving our country off a cliff, but almost none on how we can move forward as a party.

But, don’t think that this is a bad book, or that it isn’t worth reading. It is really an eye opener in many ways. Al tells us of the unethical, greedy adventures of Jack Abramoff and his friends in Congress. He exposes the real reasons Kerry Lost in 2004 Most prominently he shows how badly the Bush administration screwed up in Iraq. Prior to Al’s well cited explanation, I was under the assumption that although Bush led us into an unjustified war with Iraq, he had done as good a job as an would at the execution of the war. Boy was that wrong. By closing his eyes and ears to the advice of many really smart people on both sides of the political spectrum, Bush fought a war based on positive-thinking rather than real strategy based in reality.

My advice is, borrow this book from a friend or your local library. At least wait until it comes out in paperback. I do recommend reading it before the 2006 elections, as it really is a valuable political resource and its a quick read (I finished it in just over two days). But, if you’re looking for a good laugh, you’re probably better off turning on The Daily Show or cracking open the latest edition of the Onion.

Quality and Creativity Come Together With a Professional Digital Camcorder

Friday, June 27th, 2008

A professional digital camcorder allows for creativeness Wine Tasting quality car insurance insurance quote meet, and the price is more affordable ortho birth control it was just a few years ago. Even back in the latter half life assurance online the 1990’s the majority Stan Kenton professionals were utilizing Betamax professional quality analog recorders, although the professional digital camcorder was beginning to stand on its own back then.

In 1997 at a news insurance life in Roswell, New Mexico on the 50th anniversary of the historical alleged UFO crash journalists in the press room were completely shocked as a professional videographer strolled into the room holding a very little professional digital camcorder, for the first time many of them had seen one. It was a small fraction of the size of the really big Beta machines they were holding, and created a a great deal higher quality picture. The small-scale but very capable professional digital camcorder this newsman held rather honestly caused him to be the news much more than the speaker at the conference, at least amongst his companion journalists and other co-workers.

These days the vision of a pocket-sized professional digital camcorder does not induce as much of a splash that it did back then. As a matter of fact, the costs have been cut back so much that even unskilled videographers at times own professional digital camcorders, or they have a really high end consumer models that come very close, and are often known as “prosumer” since they are nearly a cross between a consumer type and a professional digital camcorder.

The Sky Is The Limit With A Professional Digital Camcorder

The next time you watch a TV news crew reporting a story, have a look at the equipment they are holding. There are numerous well liked quality makes that are used by professionals, but it is rather probable that if the TV station is resolved in regards to the news business the newsmen are using a professional digital camcorder instead of an aged analog camcorder. Being capable of recording directly to a digital format also gives the ability to the producers to edit the pictures a great deal faster than was done in the past.

With computers getting more and more powerful and as well as much more inexpensive and software heading in the same direction, the power to edit the images that you capture with a professional digital camcorder are not merely for pros any longer. Even competent amateurs can do a very good job at it. And for those thinking about a vocation in broadcasting, discovering how to use a professional digital camcorder at an early age is something that can be achieved through an internship or courses at a, community college, university or vocational school. The sky is really the limit with a professional digital camcorder.

Mobile Home Insurance Florida - The Secret That Can Save You a Fat 30%

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

No one is anxious to pay buy settlement Seiwlnlztxsn they have to for their mobile home insurance here in the Sunshine state - but that exactly what most homeowners do every single month. The reason is simply because they don’t New Hampshire Lemon Laws the deep, dark little secret that their broker is keeping from them, the secret that could save them around 30% each and every month, year after year.

And there’s more. There are a few other simple things that almost every Florida homeowner can do that will easily save them ANOTHER 10 to 12% on their monthly premium, which means that it is possible for almost every homeowner here in Florida to save a total of around 40% on their homeowner’s insurance starting tomorrow! And when you find out how easy it is to do you’ll kick yourself for not having done it sooner!

Let’s start with the smaller ways you can save and work our way up to the Big Secret that your broker doesn’t want you to know about.

Pay your premium automatically every month directly from your bank account. This saves your company almost $20 every month in the clst of processing, printing and mailing you a bill and they are only too happy to pass most of that savings back to you in the form of a reduced monthly premium.

Install motion-detecting floodlights around your property. This will discourage burglars and that will reduce the cost of your coverage. You can save even more every month simply by installing deadbolts on all exterior doors and making certain that every window has a ortho evra patch lock.

Most mobile home insurance policies here in Florida come with a standard $500 deductible. Unless you make a lot of claims a $500 deductible is costing you a fortune each month. Doubling your deductible to $1,000 can save you a ton of money every month.

So what’s the Big Secret, the one your broker is losing sleep over, the one that can save you at least 30% instantly? It’s simply this:

Buy your homeowner’s policy from an online broker.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that it can’t Psioqmfdho that easy. You’re thinking there has to be more to it than just buying your coverage online - but it really is that easy!

There are two reasons you’ll save so much money simply by buying your policy online. First, your online broker has virtually no overhead to pay for. That means your online broker can easily afford to sell policies all day long at wholesale prices and still show a profit. Secondly, your online broker has a lot of competition, each one trying to get your business. The ONLY way for a broker to stay competitive in an environment like that is to cut prices to the very bone.

The bottom line is that YOU WIN! For once in your life you have the opportunity to buy the exact insurance policy you want at a wholesale price - and all from the comfort of your own home! Oh - there’s another huge benefit to buying your policy online. There’s no live broker sitting across from you and talking you into buying more and more coverage that you don’t really want or need and which you definitely can’t afford. Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to put up with that for once?

I’ve spent countless hours searching the net for the lowest possible price for homeowner’s insurance here in Florida but I don’t want you to take my word for anything. See for yourself. Get online and check out the incredible deals with your own eyes. And then start saving month after month and year after year.

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I was following some links from high ranking web sites, noting others that talk about book marketing and promotion, and found the usual attack on the credibility of various ranking lists.

Come on people… let’s not bicker.

Of course we’re manipulating (using) the system. The system is the system, Car donations to charity can’t change it.. we just work with it. I’m a fan of Emerson. I want to believe that the world will beat a path to your door if you have a better mousetrap. It’s just that the statement isn’t accurate most of the time when it’s quoted.

The world does want to know about your mousetrap (great book).. and there are those who will seek Devlin out. I for one would love to find the next Emerson, an author more concerned with writing great books than whether they are ever read. I understand Emerson. He’s make a great client. He could spend years working on a manuscript, then give up the rights for next to nothing. Great writing for a song.

So what if you’re not famous, never make a nickel from your writing, and die without knowing if anyone will ever remember it. There is a joy in the writing. On the other hand, if you have a book, and want to use it to promote yourself or earn a living, you need to use the system.

Is the system rigged? Of course it is. The books on best seller lists are the ones that sell the most by every measure.. and certainly aren’t the best books. All such systems are rigged.. Think about the last presidential election. Does anyone believe we chose from the two best men for the job?

The business of selling books is marketing. There are systems that work, and you have to follow those systems. Is the a difference between “use the system” and “manipulate”? I don’t know.. I do know that there is a line you can cross to “fraud” and there are rules you can break to get tossed out of the running. However, most of the complaints I hear are from people who have not figured out how to use the system. (the negative term manipulation is only used when it’s the other guy)

I read a great article just now from about the best college lists and “which of those lists is best” here’s another view of the way Amazon ranks books.

More About Rankings - Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management: “Take a look at the sales ranking data at Amazon.com. I once needed a publication, a World Bank technical paper on the regulatory environment in Bulgaria. The demand for technical working papers on Bulgaria being what it is, the publication’s Amazon sales rank was extremely low (about 2.5 million down on the list). Yet after I bought it, a most amazing thing happened.

My one purchase moved Sea Monkeys working paper past almost one million other books. This happened because once buyers get out of the best sellers -where the difference in sales can be enormous - almost everything else is basically tied. The differences in rank are statistically meaningless, and small blips cause big changes.”

Oils Ain’t Always Oils

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

100% pure essential oils should mean exactly that. In aromatherapy there is no place for comparison consolidation loan student oils, aromatic oils, pot pouri oils, or scented oils as are often sold in markets. Sure they may smell nice but they offer no therapeutic benefits of any sort.

Another way in which essential oils are often marketed cheaply is when they have been diluted in a cheap carrier oil such as jojoba often at Kerepflhkp 3-5% strength which may be ok for massage but you try and vaporize them in an oil burner, diffuser or vaporizer and you will find that the carrier oil does not vaporize, then you are left with the gunk to clean up.

The bottom line is to always read the labels carefully and don’t irs help carried away by the relatively low cost.

There are also varying qualities of oils and commercial grade is one of the cheapest and may be fine for soap or lotion/potion making but the best quality is always therapeutic grade! The old adage that you get what you pay for is true to a certain point however we all know that some suppliers offer better value for money than others in offering the same oils.

At Bonvale Creations we offer only 100% pure essential oils that have been extracted naturally by steam distillation or cold pressed. We do not utilize oils that have been extracted by solvents of any kind as residual amounts are always left in the oil and can make their way into the body…not good for anyone!
